Robert Stump is primarily a self-schooled artist with a love for the natural world. In his early twenties during the mid 1970s Bob began selling his work at street fairs and community events. During the mid-1990s when Robert was painting the landscape, his plein air studies became the foundational source that he would integrate into his glass works. As these sketches developed into more complete works the artist transformed his art taking with him the tenured skill he developed up until this point in his career. From the early 2000s up until today, Robert continues to paint and study plein air. In 2007 he studied with the renowned landscape painter Scott Christensen and continues to paint the landscape en plein air. Robert is also a popular workshop instructor in the Adirondack region and has had residencies and conducted workshops at the Adirondack Experience, The Adirondack Folk School as well as The Adirondack Center for the Arts.
