Walk our ¾-mile trail to Minnow Pond with mushroom expert Susan Hopkins. Susan will share her knowledge about fungi and mushrooms and their many uses as participants explore the trail and nearby woods.

Wear sturdy shoes. Walk is rain or shine but will be canceled in case of thunderstorms. Please bring water, bug spray, and appropriate outerwear.

Susan Hopkins has learned to identify fungi through her 40-year membership in the New Jersey Mycological Association. She focuses on identification with a special interest in all of the tooth fungi (fungi with spines as the spore bearing surface under their cap). Susan is also a “dyer”, having learned the use of various species of wild fungi to dye wool. Susan lives in the Adirondack Park and continues to study the local fungi flora and offers lectures, walks, and demonstrations on fungi and mushroom dyeing.
