We'll walk a couple of miles along beautiful trails and among fine old trees, including eastern hemlocks, red spruce, northern white-cedar, sugar maples, and yellow birch. The beautiful woods here will give us a chance to work on tree identification and give us a chance to look for forest birds and amphibians. Rich Lake and associated streams will offer further beauty and interest. The Newcomb VIC is run by SUNY-ESF and hosts a variety of excellent programs year-round.
