Ferd's Bog Trail begins along Uncas Road between the villages of Raquette Lake and Eagle Bay. The trail is short (0.7 mile) but rich in interest. Ferd's is best known for its boreal birds, including the Canada jay, and its wildflowers, including native orchids. An unhurried, easy ramble will give us a chance to savor the fauna and flora. In mid-September, Ferd's Bog will be a very different place than it was in early July. Fall wildflowers, early autumn colors, and migrating birds will add to the fun.
